All Things Art!
All Things Art! is a year long art project representing my 30th year of life. It will consist of 365 artworks that may be fine art, illustration or graphic design. I am not allowed to use old artworks, design from work or anything along those lines. Each piece has to be made per day, starting today. I am hoping to get a few portfolio pieces out of this, as well as, use this as an outlet for my creativity. At the end of this year I will have 365 artworks!! Wish me luck!!

A couple of friends of mine have started working together to create some really cool artwork. Patrick Giles, illustrator and graphic designer designs and draws the pages while Debora Novarini is the inker of these pages.

Their work is really fantastic and really worth checking out! They have recently gotten a freelance gig for a writer AND just got back from dragon con with awesome critiques to help them grow and perfect their work!

I know it has been a while, I have been quite busy!!! After starting at Michael’s as the Floral Designer, I have hardly had time to blog. So what’s been goin’ on?
I have been working on re-inventorying the local Michael’s with new arrangements. I think I have gotten up to 2 arrangements an hour where it was taking me an hour and a half before. It really helps knowing where things are and what I can and can not do. I have steadily been taking pics too, which I will start uploading on a seperate page called “Floral Design”.
I have also been working on some fine art pieces that I will be entering into several local art shows coming up soon. One of which, the Regions Bank show, I have already entered and was able to get one piece in. The others will be the Riverfront show and the Prattauga show. I was really surprised I got in, seeing as how my work was a little bit more modern than what is typically shown. So I am so siked!
This past weekend I went to a good friends 30th bday party. It was pretty great. I drank ALOT and danced ALOT and well…lets just say acted as nutty as possible and can only recall bits and pieces.

My birthday celebrations are coming up as well and I am thinking about doing a year long art project to mark the year It has been done by other artists, but I liked the thought of making myself do the work and at the end of my 30th year I will have aprox 365 artworks….IF I do it!! lol Which I CAN do it, it doesn’t take me long to make something, it’s just finding the time and making myself.

Adventures in…Floral Designing?
Last night was my first day(night) at my new second job at Michael’s…I had the BEST time!!! LOL I find everything interesting, but also humorous….so in all my mishaps (and there were a few) I genuinely enjoyed myself (until about 9pm when I started to feel the effects of not eating anything and standing for 4 hours straight).
Mishap #1: I decide I am going to be fancy and hot glue these twine balls into an arrangement. It’s going good, I figure out how to attach them securely etc.. and it looks nice. Well on ball number 5 while putting it into the arrangement the still not dried hot HOT glue drizzles down onto my hand!! The faces I made were prolly hilarious!! I was lucky I didn’t scream out it hurt so bad.
Mishap #2: A customer comes up to me wanting to know pricing for customized bows for 7 boutiners for a funeral…asking me all sorts of things I have no clue how to answer. While she is talking I scan the area to see if my MOD is around, but there is no one there. So I decide I need to call her over the intercom…(I HATE intercoms…not only can I be timid in regular conversation, but also while projecting my voice throughout an ENTIRE building over a speaker system!!) So I man up and call for Maria….as soon as I sit the phone down, I look up and she is standing right there in front of me like wtf?? I’M RIGHT HERE!!!.
Mishap #3: And the last but not least!! While trying to take out the garbage at the end of the night…(I am trying to find the compacter that has been described, but I have yet to see or figure out where it’s located) I open a random exit door in the back and set off the store alarm!! NICE
In the end I think I will like being there, but it will take time to get assimilated and to figure out what I am responsible for each night.
